TACsil Pavilion

2022, Spain, Competition Entry for Public Art Installation

48 million tons of clothing are disposed worldwide every year. The TACstil pavilion proposal aimed to raise awareness about this issue by upcycling wasted fabric into beautiful panels and involving the community through design From the textile markets of Granada and the rich history of silk trade, the TACstil pavilion was born. Inspired by colourful fabrics and rugs hanging on the streets of Alcaiceria, this pavilion embraces visitors with a soft touch of draped, coloured panels. Recycled textile is given a second life creating a colourful temple. Every panel is made of up-cycled dead-stock fabric embedded in bio-resin. All of the panels will be designed by the community allowing people to participate and see their fingerprints realized in the pavilion. We believe that the best way to celebrate Spanish architecture is by creating a truly collaborative piece of art bringing the community together. TACstil pavilion is about connecting people and celebrating diversity reflected in the colours and patterns of local fabrics.
